As resident, parent, Civil Engineer and former Chief Fire Officer, I’m concerned about safety of the young, elderly and cyclists in our housing Estates.
At last week’s Ennis Municipal District Meeting, I revisited my request to reduce the speed limits on roads around estates, schools and public buildings.
Residential areas are often used as short cuts from busy roads, such as the Tulla Road which has 15,000 vehicle usage a day a lot generated by use of junction 13 of the M18.
In the response from Ennis Municipal District Office, I welcome:
- Commitment within the reply in connection to my request Dec 2017 for review of traffic safety in Turnpike and Old Limerick Road areas. .
- Commitment to carry out traffic speed and safety study in area outlined as a pilot scheme that could be progressed to other housing estates in Ennis.
